This 1 day Ngamba Island chimpanzee trekking tour will give you the best opportunity to visit Ngamba Island, one of the most fascinating islands in Lake Victoria for a wonderful experience. Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary was set up to nurse ailing chimpanzees. There are young chimpanzees in the sanctuary which lost their parents and therefore they needed someone to take care of them and that why they were bought to the sanctuary. Some of the chimpanzees suffer from various illness, some of them could have been injured as a result of poaching. Once these chimpanzees are brought to Ngamba Island, they are rehabilitated to ensure they heal physically and emotionally and later, they are releasing back to the wild.

This is a day trip meaning you will visit in the morning and later, you will return to your starting point. To be effective at this tour, you will need to inform us about your pick up location in Uganda. This Ngamba island tour usually starts from Kampala and Entebbe.
The tour can be booked the day before the start of the trip.
Early in the morning, our tour guide will visit your pickup point where you will be picked and transferred to Entebbe along the shores of Lake Victoria where you will take a speed boat to Ngamba. Ngamba Island is 23 kilometers away from Entebbe. Ngamba Island is blessed with a rich ecosystem of different flora and fauna. There are many reptiles,birds and other wildlife species on the island. Upon arrival in the island, you will visit the Ngamba Sanctuary. Depending on your time of arrival, you will wait to see the chimpanzees feeding time. The chimpanzees are fed in intervals at 11am and 3 pm. This is the best time to witness various instinctive and non-instinctive chimpanzee behaviors. You will be served with the perfect lunch and you will have a wonderful experience in Ngamba Island. The chimpanzees are fed along the raised walkaways and it is always interesting if you carry bananas along with you. Although we advocate for the morning experience, for tourists that wake up a bit later, it is possible to travel to Ngamba from 12 -1pm. During this time, there is a boat which leaves Entebbe for the Ngamba. After this wonderful experience, you will sail back to Entebbe and later, you will be dropped off at your desired location.
